FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I get my passes in the mail?
Nothing goes out in the mail. We keep the passes for you here, available for in-person pickup at the festival headquarters beginning before the first screening July 11th.- July 15th

I bought a pass but now discover myself unable to attend. Can I get a refund or transfer them to a friend?
We’d love to see you at the festival, but also want to make sure someone enjoys your reserved space. Because pass sales go directly toward festival production costs, we don’t offer refunds, however just email us before July 7th, 2017 and we’ll make sure whomever you designate can pick up the passes.

I didn’t buy an advance pass and now they’re completely sold out. Can I still pay to enter individual films and events?
Most likely, yes. Walk-up tickets for individual screenings sell on a first-come, first-serve basis. Badge-holders receive accommodation first and some screenings fill up quickly, but we always do our best to get everyone in. Keep checking this website for posted film and event schedules closer to the festival.

I have a film I want to submit for consideration. Where do I send it?
Check out our Submissions page.

I’m a journalist and want to schedule an interview with an attending festival organizer or filmmaker. How can I set this up?
Please email press@marfafilmfestival.com to tell us about your article and who you wish to speak with. We’ll do our best to accommodate you.

I’m staying in Alpine or Fort Davis and don’t want to drive back if I end up a little tipsy. Is there a taxi or shuttle?
West Texas isn’t really taxi country, but since the festival is a very friendly place you can very likely catch a ride with someone headed that way. Or carry a toothbrush and plan to crash with a friend. Police in the area never tolerate drinking and driving.

What’s the weather like out there? I have no idea what to pack!
The weather in July feels pretty nice during the day with highs in the mid-80 to 90s, so you’ll want to pack summer clothing. However Marfa rests at 5,000 feet altitude in a desert, and temperatures can dip considerably in the evening, so you’ll definitely want to bring some cool weather layers including a jacket and cap for the outdoor screenings too. Don’t forget a swimsuit in case you find yourself at Chinati Hot Springs or Balmorhea Springs, both about an hour away.
